Acer Aspire E5-521 15.6-inch Notebook Review

Click now on the image above for the latest deals on this laptop.

If you’re looking for a new laptop, then it’s worth having a look at the Aspire E5-521 laptop from Acer.

Design and build quality

This laptop weighs a hefty 3.4kg, and combined with dimensions of: width 49.4cm x depth:30.6cm  x height: 6.6cm it's not the most portable of laptops, so if you're someone who'll be taking your laptop with out everywhere, you may need to consider an alternative.  However, if you're mainly going to use it around your home, school or office, then it'll be fine for that.  You can consider it a viable desktop alternative.  It's also well suited for children, as the solid design means it's less likely to get damaged with use.

Screen

The Acer Aspire E5-521 15.6inch laptop provides a screen resolution of 1366×768.  Screen colours are good for this price point and it's powered by an integrated  graphics chip.

Keyboard

Due to the size of the laptop, the keyboard is well laid out, and I had no problem in spending my work day using it.  Key response is good, and the mouse pad is easy to use.  I had no hand pain after using both for an extended period of time.

Performance

My review laptop came supplied with AMD A4-6210 processor, with a speed of 1.8 GHz. Supplied RAM is a 4GB or RAM and a 1TB (1000GB) Hard Disk (HDD) and a DVD drive is also supplied.

Battery life

I was able to get just under 7 hours of life from a full charge with normal use.  This included web browsing and word processing.

Operating System

The Samsung comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1

Summary

This is an good laptop at this price point, and I give it 7.5 out of 10.  The main disadvantage is the size.  If you can live with that, then I can recommend it to you.

Design and build quality

Weighing in at 2.3kg, it's not the lightest of laptops, combined with dimensions of: width 41cm x depth:36.6cm it's more suited to use at home or the office.  This laptop feels solid and there is minimal flex, therefore the overall feel is of a quality product for the price.
